A2.Usually the immigration authorities and embassy will tell persons to go home,but we see many cases in which a foreigner has gained permission without returning home.The period of examination for those applying for special permisson for residence without returning home depends to a certain extent on the regional immigration office involved,but the number of cases of people receiving permission within about one year is increasing.

Q3.I am a Fillipina and I am going to divorce my Japanese husband.How does a person apply for a divorce?

A3.If your husband has a fixed address in Japan ,then Japanese law is implemented.The couple shoud follow the procedure for divorce by contacting the municipal office of their residential district,which is for a divorce by consent.Please fill in a Notification of Divorce by Consent at the office in which your address is registered or the office in which your Family Register is kept.
