TIME Festival

Our 23rd TIME Festival will be held November 23 (Wednesday, a national holiday) at Tori-Gin Bunka Kaikan (downtown Tottori). The theme for this year’s 2011 festival is:  We are Tomodachi ? Pray/Play for all the world.

This one-day multicultural festival will feature international food, displays, events and performances from around the world. We invite you to take part and to introduce your country to local Japanese residents in one of two ways:

(1) COUNTRY DISPLAY TABLES

TIME invites you to prepare a display using pictures, maps and posters to introduce your country. You can also sell goods (e.g. food or handicrafts) related to your country.

(2) CULTURAL PERFORMANCES

TIME also invites you to do a cultural performance from your country - a dance, a song, a story or a game. Anything is OK as long as it's cheerful and enjoyable!

TIME Bazaar for Foreign Residents

Twice a year, TIME organizes a used goods bazaar for foreign residents. Our next bazaar will be held in early October 2011. We are now collecting used goods for this.  If you have anything you can offer to recycle, please contact us.

What is TIME?

TIME (Tottori International Multicultural Exchange) is a volunteer citizens' group dedicated to promoting international understanding in Tottori Prefecture. It was founded in 1988 and works with foreign residents, Japanese citizens and international organizations to promote global awareness, intercultural exchange and mutual understanding.

What does TIME do?

1. Newsletter: TIME Tottori

We publish our newsletter, TIME Tottori, twice a year. This includes reports on TIME events, articles on global themes, profiles of local people and groups working for international understanding, news from Tottori people living or traveling overseas, book reports on cross-cultural understanding and descriptions of international activities in Tottori.

2. Public seminars and workshops on international topics.

Join our annual TIME seminars to learn about foreign countries, topics linked to language and culture, and global issues such as peace and the environment.

3. TIME Festival:

Each fall, we hold an exciting 1-day international festival for foreign residents and local people which features multicultural displays, performances and events.

4. Help to foreign students and residents

Twice a year, we organize a TIME bazaar (spring and fall) designed to recycle used goods from local residents and provide them at low cost to foreign students.

5. Social activities

We also organize annual activities such as parties, excursions and dinners. Join us!
